The Joy of Fall

Let me know what you think!

  1. First, I love them all, but I'll try to be constructive: I think...
the first photo needs to be blown up and framed and belongs in a gallery... seriously, it makes me stop and smile and chuckle and contemplate everything Autumn, and wonder about that kid and how much fun he's having, and everything a good gallery photo is supposed to do.
the second photo makes me laugh and Nathan looks even taller and skinnier than he is, he's a daddy-long-legs! ;-) It reminds me of something you'd see a professional family photographer take, possibly gallery quality but it doesn't quite stop you in your tracks and scream fall like the first one, and because there is more in the photo, it doesn't leave you as thoughtful and curious as with the first one.
the ones with you in them are also good composition, but I think it's the color of Nathan's shirt that really makes those first photos pop, maybe if you had a solid color, like red or purple.
The last one is fun, and might fit well in a series or collage of several related photos, but you can't really see his hands, or his smile, so you lost some of the features that made the other photos really "speak" (hmm, now I'm starting to sound too much like an art critic :-P )

    1. haha.. thanks Caitlin! its means a lot that you think some of them are gallery quality.
And i do agree with you. Nathan's shirt really does add a lot to the feeling of the images (i actually had him change into a solid color shirt). Originally i hadn't planned to be in any of them, which is why i hadn't changed, but once leaves started falling i couldn't help myself ;) haha
The last one was very experimental... i didn't want him as the focus but rather the leaves. so i didn't take the time to make his face/hands/body clearly visible.
Again, thank you for the critique! i like hearing what others have to say about my pictures... its a learning experience. :)
