Through the Vortex

While messing around with my wide-angle lens, i discovered how to produce a sorta vortex effect in my pictures. I thought it looked really cool so i spent the good part of the day looking for subjects to try it on. Here's some of the resulting photos.

This color photo is the same as the one above... i just couldn't decide which was better, with or without color.

Any thoughts?

A Bugs Eye View

This photo came about totally by accident. I was walking around in some tall field grass when I stumbled and tripped. As I fell, my finger brushed the shutter release on my camera producing this image. It was a complete fluke! I was more then surprised to discover that it didn't actually turn out that bad.
(ISO 100, 50mm, f/5.6, 1/800sec)
I then went back out and tried a couple more shots to see if i could duplicate my findings. This is what I got.
